Fannie Mae - Sticking It to Their Customers!

It is amazing how financial institutions continue to treat people who are struggling to make ends meet with such disrespect. These institutions have no regards for the efforts of these people who are requesting - no, begging for assistance to pay their mortgages. Perfect example, Fannie Mae. How could they place a securities bet that most customers will not be approved for re-financing. And, worse, make money off this bet since their loan officers are coming up with every excuse in the books to deny thousands of applicants the opportunity to refinancing their homes! Wow!!

Interesting to see that the people of Russia are still persistent in their beliefs that the last victory of Vladimir Putin was achieved through fradulent methods. Great that their protests continue to make sure the matter does not die!

Professional Athletes Win Anyway You Look At It!

It's that time of the year again - Super Bowl! It's the time when fans root for their favorite team and get upset when the team loses. Look at it this way, it doesn't matter if a team wins or loses since, at the end of the day, the losing players are going home to their multi-million dollar lifestyles. So, while the fans make a big deal of their favorite team's loss and some may even resort to violence, there is not much of a loss to the player except their ego! These rich athletes win anyway you look at it!

Housing Crisis Still Going Strong!

I have met several people who have been living for free in their homes for over a year!! Yes, I said they are living for free! But, they are living on the edge since the bank or financial companies can give them notice any time to leave the premises. Are these people opportunists? No! They do not know each other, but have the same story. These people have lived in their homes for many, many years. One lady has lived in her home for well over 20 years and she is in her 80s. During the financial boom, with low interest rates, re-fiancing was one of the bank's major selling items. As a former worker at different banks, the employees get paid for selling customers a product and re-financing a loan is a big product. So, thousands of people were lured into refinancing their homes. However, when the real estate bust occurred, those people found themselves in great financial difficulties as the mortgage increased drastically. Each person has expressed their great efforts and frustration in contacting the banks and financial institutions. They all echo the fact that they have spent hours on the phone trying to rectify their situations. However, as seen from the 60 minutes episode, the banks have not been of any help to their customers. This is a shame!

Times Are Tough!

I was driving to work yesterday when I noticed a women at 7:45 A.M. standing at the corner of the road. She was dressed in a low cut blouse and extremely short shirt. Many people like myself were driving to work, so it was surprising to see a women standing at the corner soliciting her body at that time of the day. As a woman myself, I did not condem the actions but tried to understand why a woman would go to that extent. Was her life very difficulty? Was she there to simply get sufficient money to feed her family? Was this a sign of desperation??!! So many things crossed my mind and yet I wondered if she simply didn't care one way or the other. I hope this was not the case!

Alumni Associations - What are You Doing to Help Your Unemployed Graduates??!!

Both of my university alumni associations call from time to time seeking donations. I am not against making donations to these alumni associations. However, I do question what are these associations doing to help their unemployed graduates? Are they working with the Human Resources Department to make sure that as many graduates as possible from their schools are hired? Are they recommending alumni to outside employment sources. Some of these alumni are receiving huge funding. So, what are they doing for graduates who are now heavily in debt for getting an education at the institutions?

Out of Touch??!!

Did Mitt Romney really say that President Obama is out of touch in criticizing the President's State of the Union speech? Wow!! Don't see Romney mingling with any working class people, people of color, the unemployed, etc. who could tell him a thing or two on what's happening around the country!! Also, Mr. Romney why did you brush off the students today at Miami Dade College who simply wanted your response to their question on the Dream Act?! Now, who's out of touch!!

Octavia Barnett posted on FaceBook that an ex-boyfriend was at the door. Little did she know that the post was her final one. There was a triple shooting thereafter which left her, her friend, and a six month old baby dead. Police were able to locate Ms. Barnett's killer as a result of her final post! Oscars Award - Same Old, Same Old

It seems every year for so many years, George Clooney has been receiving an Oscar award or other movie awards. It appears the the awards committee cannot function without having Mr. Clooney nominated. I guess he brings the popularity they need for their awards show. Is he that good of an actor or director? I think NOT!! What would the awards committee do if Mr. Clooney was not among their awardees? It seems a bit old, repetitive and tiring. As a matter of fact, let me predict that Mr. Clooney will be nominated and receive an award next year even without knowing of any future movie!!!!

Many know Micky Arison is the owner of Miami Heat and Carnival Cruise Line. But, did you know he also owns Costa Cruise Line? Haven't heard a word from him publically about the shipwreck disaster of Costa Concordia off the Italian coast. Many people lost their lives Mr. Arison so, why so quiet??!! Worse - the company has a nerve to offer passengers a refund of 30% after nearly losing their lives!! What's Up with 'dat' Mr. Arison?

Life for the elderly seems to prolong, even with serious illnesses, when they are participating in activities and work that they have truly enjoyed performing for many, many years. However, when that joy in their life goes away, the body tends to decline rapidly as there is no zest for life!

The season has started where presidential candidates are visiting towns, shaking people's hands, holding babies, attempting to speak Spanish, etc., etc. Many residents last saw any high profile political candidate four years ago. That's right......that long ago! The candidates are saying exactly what the voters want to hear to get their vote! After that, they don't care! Watch out!

Selfish, Selfish, Selfish!

I like, Wendy William,decided to wait one week to comment on the fiasco that took place with the birth of the Carter's baby. This is the height of selfishness on the part of the Carters, their management team and the Lennox Hill Hospital. Preventing parents from seeing their babies and giving doctors a hard time in getting to their patients is simply wrong! Other celebrities delivered their babies at the same hospital and did not subject others to this blatant selfishness. This shows how having too much money can get to your head! Looking to hear the fallout from this situation!

BP Oil Spill Claim Favoritism?

Dick Gregory was interviewed on The Tom Joyner Morning Show, and I was surprised to learn from him that while influential companies, people and the government agencies were readily paid millions of dollars for their claims made to BP, disenfranchised people such as shrimp fishermen and other non-influential persons have been experiencing the run around with their claims. Huh! What's up with 'dat'!

Mismanagement of Donations to Haiti?

Millions of dollars were donated to rebuild Haiti after the earthquake. After two years, why are thousands of people still living in tent cities under deplorable conditions? Relief agencies, where have all the donations gone??!!

How could ICE mistakenly deport an American citizen who does not speak Spanish to Colombia? Even if she gave the wrong name, shouldn't finger prints and photos be matched before deporting anyone?

Legislation in some states are requiring that residents produce a government picture ID to vote. It is easy for some people to obtain a government picture ID. However, what about others such as the elderly and college students who formally reside in other states? Strict laws and high costs have now been implemented to obtain picture government IDs. Is this law intended to prevent fraud or is it to disenfranchise certain groups of people?
